Instant Pot Chickpea Soup

Instant Pot Chickpea Soup with Iya Foods Fonio flour
Makes about 6 servings:


  • 2-3 cups cooked chickpeas (can swap with cooked beans)
  • 6 cups water chicken stock (can swap with vegetable stock or water)
  • 1 cup tomato sauce (can swap with any sauce or chopped tomatoes and peppers)
  • 2 Tbsp Iya Foods Mixed Vegetables
  • 1 cup Iya Foods Fonio Flour
  • 1 tsp Iya Foods Garlic with Garlic Skin seasoning
  • 1 tsp Iya Foods Chili Flakes
  • 1 to 2 tsp sea salt


  1. Whisk Fonio flour into the 6 cups of stock to avoid lumps in the soup
  2. Then combine all ingredients including cooked chickpeas or beans in an Instant Pot. Set for soup or approx. 20 mins
  3. Once complete, cautiously allow pressure to release then open. Let simmer for 5 mins. Serve hot
  4. Serve hot with naan or fresh bread if desired
